SRINAGAR – A Kashmiri girl who happened to be a staunch supporter of Indian cricket team throughout his life divulged her rebellious story of how she opted to support Pakistan in the final of Champions Trophy.

In a heartfelt expression, Zara Bakshi took to Facebook minutes after Green Shirts trounced India in the high-octane clash and disclosed that Pakistan’s victory ignited celebrations in Kashmir as well.

She disclosed that the Kashmir never witnessed such fireworks even on Eid that light up the sky after Pakistan’s barnstorming performance against India.

Taking a jibe at the prime time analysts spewing venom against Pakistan, Bakshi expressed that they won’t fulfil their offer to send Kashmiris to Pakistan like many other promises.

Zara also hit out at famous Indian television anchor Arnab Goswami, known more for anti-Pakistan views for his opinion that Kashmiri people should support India instead of Pakistan.

Bakshi, who received her early education in the restive town of Srinagar, prone to Indian forces termed herself and her fellows ‘rebels’ adding that these type of people are not dictated as expected by the media giants.

Disclosing how cheerful it was to see every bowl of the exciting match, Bakshi revealed that she neither supported Pakistan nor felt any emotional attachment to the game but Sunday’s encounter was a different one as she cheered and jeered every time India lost a wicket.

The crux of the Facebook post that earned many comments showing pleasant surprise on the apparent ‘policy shift’ was Indian oppression in the restive region.

‘Mind works in strange ways and so does oppression’ was the concluding line of the message suggesting that Indian forces trying to get hold of the valley were actually losing with each passing day as they failed to bond themselves with the people emotionally who were vehemently throwing weight behind Pakistan be in political realms or cricket grounds.

It bears mentioning that Zara’s post caught the attention of Spokesperson Jammu & Kashmir National Conference Junaid Azim Mattu who took to Twitter with the screenshot of the post and lauded the girl for highlighting the actual problem of the valley.

Not only that, when a fellow Indian tried to take aim at the post and cited ‘hormonal issue’ as a reason for the post, Mattu retaliated ferociously.

So just because a girl says something you don’t like, she’s “hormonal”? Nasty, obnoxious, chauvinism – too low for even your standard Mahra.

Although Green Shirt’s triumph at Oval was celebrated in Pakistan with a group of young people pouring out on roads blaring patriotic songs and sloganeering in support of the playing XI but, another celebration that happened in Srinagar was widely shared on social media.

The defiant valley came out even more audaciously this time. However, the occupying forces resorted to ruthless firing to terminate the celebrations.

Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also took to Twitter following Pakistan’s victory adding that the victory was like an early Eid for the Kashmiris.

Fireworks all around, feels like an early Eid here. Better team took the day. Congratulations team

However, the celebration riled Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir who lost his temper and retaliated by advising Farooq to cross the border to celebrate Eid.
